WordPress Maintenance & Hosting Plans

If you hire me to create your site, I will train you on how to fully maintain and add new content to it after my work is complete. Additionally, I will demonstrate both the ease and the importance of making regular WordPress core and plugin updates. Most of my clients find these updates to be pretty simple, and not particularly time-consuming (it’s literally as simple as clicking the “update” button).

If you don’t make your updates, what will eventually happen are VERY BAD THINGS including but not limited to:

  • An increased risk of getting hacked (and other security issues)
  • Losing your content
  • Broken features
  • Having to spend far more money and time to fix things than would have cost by staying up to date to begin with.

In short, it is crucial that you stay on top of WordPress updates.

I am happy to make those updates for you!

Especially as websites get older, plugins that were initially installed may go out of date or break. For that reason alone, many of my clients like the security of a maintenance plan.

Managed Hosting without Maintenance: only $15 per month or $12 per month if paid yearly. This includes:

  • Free hosting on a shared server on my preferred host ****
  • Automatic monthly backups
  • Monthly plugin and WordPress core updates
  • $50 fee for restoration of your site from the last back up, if you should accidentally delete a page or mess something up.
  • Troubleshooting, content updates, charged additionally
  • You do your own WordPress code updates and maintenance.

Basic hosting and maintenance plan: only $35 per month or $30 per month if paid yearly. This includes:

  • Free hosting on a shared server on my preferred host ****
  • Automatic weekly backups
  • Monthly plugin and WordPress core code updates
  • Free troubleshooting*** and fixing any problems that might happen due to outdated or updated plugins.
  • Free restoration of your site from the last back up, if you should accidentally delete a page or mess something up.
  • Content updates $10 each

Premium hosting and maintenance plan: only $45 per month or $40 per month if paid yearly. This includes:

  • Free hosting on my VPS server (which is much more secure than cheap “shared hosting” plans, see this blog entry) – a $30 per month value**
  • Weekly backups!
  • Weekly plugin & WordPress core code updates
  • Monthly content changes to up to 2 entries at a time (just send over any text or photos you want added to your site)*
  • Free troubleshooting*** and fixing any problems that might happen due to outdated or updated plugins.
  • Free restoration of your site from the last back up, if you should accidentally delete a page or mess something up.

Bonus for long term premium hosting clients:

Pay yearly, or have a maintenance plan with me for a year or longer, and (at the end of each year) I will provide a complementary core theme-framework upgrade and system audit so that your site is functioning as efficiently as possible.  It’s almost like getting a new site! This is a $200 value.

* None of my maintenance packages include original content writing or creation, this service can be contracted for additionally.

** I am happy to transfer most sites to my servers for free. However, certain configurations may make moving your site more difficult and time consuming. If this is the case, I will contact you about any additional fees or technical considerations.

*** Unfortunately, due to the many plugins and themes available on WordPress, I may occasionally need to replace a plugin on your site with another that offers similar functionality. I cannot be held responsible for errors and security breaches which are caused by others changing, adding, updating or modifying any code on your site.

**** I’m now offering hosting plans on a shared server through CertifiedHosting. I highly recommend my Premium hosting and maintenance plan on my VPS server for sites which are complex, large, or get lots of traffic. I cannot guarantee speed and full functionality of high traffic and complex sites on any shared hosting.
